Suffolk County Large School Championships
The Boy's Varsity Track Team took fourth place overall at the Suffolk County Large School Championships this past weekend. The Marauders crowned three individual County Champions. Senior captain Kadesh Roberts raced to victory in the 600 meter run in 1:25.43. Stanley Constant took the Shot Put with a toss of 50' 5 1/2". It is the longest throw in Suffolk this season. Sophomore Omari Buckmire took gold in the Triple Jump soaring 44' 11", also a Suffolk County best. As of this week, it is the second leading jump for a sophomore in the United States!
On Monday evening, the team traveled to the New Balance Track and Field Center to participate in the New Jersey Track Classic. Kadesh Roberts took home medals in both the 55 Meter High Hurdles and the 400 Meter Dash in which he set a new school record of 50.10. Omari Buckmire also was a medal winner in the Triple Jump. Next up for the Marauders will be the State Qualifier this Sunday at Suffolk Community College.
Angel Rosario took the silver medal in the Weight Throw at the very prestigious Millrose games in NY City on Friday evening. Angel's mark of 59' 5 1/2" leads Suffolk County in the event.
Section XI League II Championships
The Boy's Varsity Track Team battled to a 3rd place finish in the Section XI League II Championships. League II is rated as the most competitive league in Suffolk County boy's track. The Marauders were led by Kadesh Roberts who won both the 300 meter dash and the 55 meter hurdles. He then took 5th place in the Long Jump. Stanley Constant took the gold in the Shot Put with a toss of over 50 feet. Team mate Angel Rosario brought home the bronze medal, as Coach Forti's weight team scored big for the Marauders. Not to be out done, Coach Mauro's "Jump Squad" of Omarie Buckmire, Jamari Lawrence, and Kareem Roberts added to the Marauder's point total with scoring jumps in the Triple Jump. Lawrence and Buckmire also took medals in the Long Jump. Senior sprinter John Scott placed in both the 55 meter dash and the 300 meter dash. Emmet Farnan also was a scorer with his 5th place finish in the 1000 meter run. The Marauders finished the night with scoring in both the 4x400, and 4x800 meter relays.
Congratulations to the following athletes on being named All League: Kadesh Roberts, Angel Rosario, Stanley Constant, Omari Buckmire, Jamari Lawrence, and John Scott. Next up for the team will be the Metropolitan Invitational, followed by the County Championships in early February.
15th Annual Hispanic Games
The Boys Track Team had a very successful day at the 15th annual Hispanic Games, held at the Armory Track and Field Center in Manhattan this past Saturday. The Marauders were led by Kadesh Roberts who medalled in the 400 meter dash with a quick time of 51.06. He went on to lead the 4x400 meter relay team of John Scott, Ethan Corcoran and Keith McLeod to one of the fastest times in the county with a 3:33.61.
Shot Putters Stanley Constant, Angel Rosario and Andrew Nelson also had an outstanding meet, continuing their domination of Suffolk in their event. Not to be outdone, the Jump Squad of Omari Buckmire and Jamari Lawrence also had some of Suffolk's best results in the Triple Jump and Long Jump. Distance runners Matt Cohen, Emmet Farnan, and Nick Swain also performed well at the meet.
Next up for the team is a return to the Armory next week, for the Stanner Games, one of the more prestigious meets of the indoor campaign.
Crossover "D"Meet
The Boys Track Team had an outstanding performance at Thursday night's Crossover "D" Meet held at Suffolk County Community College. The Marauders were led by senior Kadesh Roberts who cruised to an easy victory in the 600 meter run, posting a respectable time of 1:27.61. He added to his successful outing by taking 2nd place in the Long Jump with a leap of 20' 4 3/4" narrowly missing the gold medal by 1/4 of an inch!
Senior Stanley Constant took first place in the Shot Put with a toss of 48' 5" just edging out team mate Angel Rosario who tossed an even 48'
Stanley and Angel are now tied for the number one ranking in Suffolk County in their event. Other fine performances were turned in by Kareem Roberts in the High Jump with a silver medal performance clearing 5'10"; Jamari Lawrence in the Long Jump with a leap of 18' 11 1/4"; Pernell Gulley in the 600, Keith McLeod in the 300, as well as some fine distance running by Will Norris, Matt Cohen, Emmet Farnan, and Ethan Corcoran.
Next up for the team are the Hispanic Games this Saturday at the Armory Track and Field Center in Manhattan.
Bay Shore at NYC Invitational
On Friday, December 16th, the Boy's Indoor Track Team traveled to the New Balance Track and Field Center on 168th St. in Manhattan to participate in the Jim Mitchell Invitational. Only a select number of teams are invited to this meet.
Bay Shore showed that they belonged among the elite as senior Kadesh Roberts took 2nd place in both the 55 Meter High Hurdles and the 300 Meter Dash. Sophomore Omari Buckmire continued his domination of the Triple Jump by taking the gold medal. Senior Angel Rosario scored for the Marauders in the Shot Put. Other fine performances were turned in by Pernell Gulley and Kareem Roberts in the 600 Meter Run, John Scott and Robins Prophete in the 300 Meter Dash, and Roderick Syndor in the 4x200 Meter Relay.
On Saturday, seniors Dominick LaFerrera, and Stanley Constant put on a clinic in the Shot Put, to lead the Marauders at the Crossover Meet at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood. Next the team will travel to New England for the prestigious Rhode Island Invitational on December 28th.
