Loucks Games
Kadesh Roberts led the Boys Track Team to a second place overall finish at the prestigious Loucks Games over the weekend. Roberts maintained his dominance in the 400 Meter Intermediate Hurdles, winning the event in 52.85 seconds, the 4th fastest ever in the 45 year history of the meet. He also anchored the 5th place 4x400 meter relay of John Scott , Pernell Gulley and Kareem Roberts. Angel Rosario took second in the Discus with a toss of 170'6". Stanley Constant took 3rd with a throw of 154'9", to go along with his bronze medal in the Shot Put where he tossed the shot 53 '8.75." Sophomore Omari Buckmire medalled in the Triple Jump, soaring 46' 1." Next up for the Marauders is a trip up to Schnectady for the Eddy Games, the oldest track meet in New York.

Roberts Continues Streak!!!

The Boys Track Team traveled to West Chester Pennsylvania to compete in the Puma Henderson Invitational track and Field Meet. Kadesh Roberts continued his streak of setting records in every meet he has competed in so far this spring. Roberts took the 300 meter hurdles in a meet record time of 37.52 seconds, placing him in the top 20 in the nation in this rarely run event for New York athletes. Kadesh warmed up with a silver medal in the 110 High Hurdles before his latest assault on the record books. Not to be outdone, team mate Angel Rosario tossed the Discus 171' 3" to take over the top ranking in Suffolk County, and places him in the top 5 in New York State. Stanley Constant also medalled in the Discus as well. The jumping squad garnered their share of medals as well, with Omari Buckmire soaring over 21'10" in the Long Jump. He was joined by Jamari Lawrence and Bill Pierre who also broke the 21' barrier. Buckmire and Lawrence came back later to go 2-3 in the Triple Jump. Other fine performances were turned in by Kareem Roberts and Pernell Gulley in the 800 Meter Run, John Scott in the 400 Meter Dash, and 8th grade standout Jeffery Reyes in the 1600 Meter Run.

The PENN RELAYS

The Boys Track Team traveled to the University of Pennsylvania to run in the worlds largest track meet, The Penn Relays. With the opportunity to perform on track and field's grandest stage, Kadesh Roberts put on a performance to be remembered. Pitted against the finest high school 400 Meter Intermediate Hurdlers in the United States and Jamaica, Kadesh raced to the silver medal in a New York State best time of 52.43. His performance also gives him the number 2 ranking in the United States so far this year!! One hour later, he anchored the Marauders 4x400 Meter relay team to a 4th place finish in their race. He was joined by Pernell Gulley, John Scott and brother Kareem Roberts in the effort. Also competing for the home team was the 4x100 Meter Relay team of John Scott, Stanley Constant, Terrence Phillips and Mattias Eato. The team will travel again to Pennsyvania, this Friday to compete in the Puma-Henderson Invitational.

The 25th Annual Red Raiders Relays

The Boys Varsity Track Team traveled to North Rockland High School to run in the 25th annual Red Raiders Relays. They came away with a cache of medals in a dominating performance led by Kadesh Roberts. Roberts opened the meet with an easy win in the 110 meter high hurdles. Later that afternoon, he broke the meet record in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles when he took gold in 54.30. The old record had stood since 1993. This is the second week in a row that Kadesh has set a meet record in this event. For his efforts he was named the meet's Outstanding Male Track Athlete. He was not finished yet, he then went on to anchor the 4x400 meter relay team to a third place finish in 3:30.12, one of the fastest times in Suffolk County this year. He was joined by team mates John Scott, Emmet Farnan, and brother Kareem Roberts. Kareem joined in the family success as he took home a bronze medal in the high jump with a leap of 6'0". He also medaled in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, making the event a Roberts family affair. Seniors Angel Rosario and Stanley Constant dominated the weight events when they took the gold and silver medals in the Discus throw, with tosses of 159' 3" and 155' 7" respectively. Andrew Nelson added to the medal count when he placed in the discus too. Contant and Rosario further contributed to the medal total when they scored in the Shot Put. The Triple Jump saw Jamamri Lawrence walk away with the silver medal. Keeping up the tradition of strong jumpers in Bay Shore track lore, freshman Bradley Pierre earned some hardware in the Freshman/Sophomore division of the triple jump. The Marauders will be on their home turf this Wednesday when they square off against Smithtown East, then it's off to the prestigious Penn Relays, the world's biggest track meet, where Kadesh will race against the nation's best 400 meter hurdlers. Bay Shore will also compete in the 4x400, and the 4x100 meter relays.

Bay Shore Defeats Walt Whitman
The Boy's Track team evened their league record to 1-1, with a 85-56 win over Walt Whitman on Wednesday, April 11. The Marauders were led by triple winner Kareem Roberts who took gold in both hurdle events and the high jump. Other outstanding performances were turned in by Angel Rosario who won the discus with a toss of 161', one of the longest throws in the county this season and John Scott who raced to victory in the 400, and then led off the victorious 4x100 relay team with teammates Stanley Constant, Terrence Phillips, and Cameron Newkirk. Constant also won the shot put for the home team. Next up for the Marauders is the Suffolk Officials Invitational, on Saturday, then back to their league schedule to take on Central Islip, next Wednesday, April 19th.

Derrick Atkins Holiday Invitational

The Boys Varsity Track Team competed at the Derrick Atkins Holiday Invitational on Monday, held at Mitchel Park in Uniondale. The Marauders came away with some nice "hardware" for their efforts. Angel Rosario took home a pair of first place plaques by dominating the Shot Put and Discus throws. Team mate Stanley Constant added to the medal count with a fourth place toss in the Shot and a third place throw in the Discus. Omari Buckmire took home the gold in the Long Jump, leaping over 20' into a strong headwind. Jamari Lawrence took home the silver and Terrence Phillips the fourth place medal for Coach Rich Mauro's jumpers. One the track, the 4x400 meter relay team of John Scott, Emmet Farnan, Kareem Roberts, and Bill Pierre tool home the third place plaques. Scott later teamed up with Matthias Eato, Stanley Constant, and Omari Buckmire to medal in the 800 Meter Sprint Medley.

Smithtown West Defeats Bay Shore

The Boys Varsity Track Team opened up their dual meet season losing a close one to powerhouse Smithtown West. Both teams were ranked in Newsday's Top Ten Teams on Long Island. The Marauders had three double winners as Kareem Roberts dominated both the 110 meter High Hurdles and the 400 Meter Intermediate Hurdles. He then went on to place 3rd in the High Jump. Super Sophomore Omarie Buckmire took both the Long and Triple Jumps as well as taking 3rd place in the 200 Meter Dash. John Scott won both sprints and was part of both the 4x100, and 4x400 Meter Relays. Angel Rosario took gold in the Discus with a toss of just short of 155 feet. Other great performances were turned in by Jamari Lawrence in the Long and Triple Jumps, Stanley Constant in the Shot Put, Long Jump and Discus, and Malik Hinds in both hurdle events. Next up for the Marauders is the "Derrick Atkins Invitational" on Monday, followed by an always tough Walt Whitman squad on Wednesday.
