As the
saying goes "To those that much has been given , much
is expected". To the student athletes at Bay Shore,
much has been given to you. The Bay Shore School District
has been able to build beautiful facilities for you the
last several years. This has been accomplished largely due
to the community supporting the annual school budget.
Bay Shore has become the envy of Suffolk County and Long
Island. All of us are very fortunate to live and/or work
at Bay Shore.
The new turf fields are close to being completed which will
enable our Football,Soccer,Lacrosse and Field Hockey teams
to participate on state of the art facilities. The new gymnasium
at the High School host all of our indoor sporting events
and has hosted several County and Long Island Championships.
The new gymnasium at the Middle School is beautiful as well.
The weight room and wellness center, at both the High School
and Middle School ,are equipped with an abundance of equipment
and supplies.
"To those that much has been given, much is expected",
so you may ask what is expected of you, the student athlete?
I believe that what is expected, just as any parent would
indicate to their child, is not repayment in monetary terms
but instead in demonstrating responsibility, maturity, appreciation
and respect. The following is a list of expectations for
you, the Bay Shore student athlete, to demonstrate this
spring season:
1-Demonstrate Character,Civility,Citizenship and Competency
2-Respect your opponent at all times
3-Demonstrate good sportsmanship
4-Respect the officials and their decisions at all times
5-Respect your coaches
6-Respect your parents and teammates
7-Respect yourself by refraining from using alcohol, drugs
and any other dangerous or illegal substances
Good luck on your season and I look forward to seeing you
representing our school and community this spring
Mr. Claude Kasman
Director Health, Physical Education and Athletics
